Need a some suggestions

How do you semi-thaw 40 pound brick of chicken; enough to separate it and grind it?  I learned a lesson here to not go visit the lovely meat man (found a nice one for 0.59/lb that has nice hours and is closer to us) when Shawn isn't home to carry in the chicken!  Grandpa had to come over and carry it up three flights of stairs.  Does stuff weigh more when it's frozen or was I just that tired?

hi katie & chumlee

although not a raw feeder, i do have a suggestion, i woould put it in the bathtub in cold water & change the water every 1/2 hour, like when you have to defrost a turkey for thanksgiving. it's gonna take awhile but can't think of any other way.

also, hell yeah things are heavier when frozen!!!!

good luck with the chicken, give chumlee a smooch from me & a good scratch on that chumlee tushie!!

OMG!!

As it thaws just start breaking it apart. Have some containers close by so your not dripping juice all over. One hint....Wear some gloves or your hands will forever stink like chicken no matter how much you wash. 45lbs done today in no time. I have to say its getting easier...Have fun!!!

when I thaw food...

I use the sink but like the previous reply said, you might need to use the bathtub. Do you have a big storage bin/tupperware tub? You can actually thaw frozen stuff in cold water. You fill the tub about 1/4 full of cold water and then leave the faucet dripping. Eventually the tub will overflow (the storage one, not the bathtub, leave it with the drain open. But running water is all you need to defrost. For 6 chicken breasts in the sink it usually takes me an hour. So it may take you 2 or 3... The chicken won't go bad though because it's frozen.  Just check on it often. Once it gets to a point where it is a bit pliable, I would take it out and chizzle it apart. That way the edges don't start going bad while you are waiting for the middle to thaw...
