Need some advice vomiting/diarrhea

3 days ago Oliver threw up his entire breakfast and dinner right before bedtime.  Then he threw up again about 30 minutes later.  We slept out on the couch with him that night and he had two more small throw ups of mostly just water/mucus.  The next day we gave him some chicken and rice for lunch and some more for dinner but again before bedtime he threw it all up.  Up until then his activity was totally normal, appetite just as good as always, and normal poops.  Took him to the vet and he got some pepcid, reglan, and anti nausea medication and IV fluids.  Yesterday definitely a lot less energy and less of an appetite.  At one point he looked at his food but just laid down to go to sleep.  He also has no interest at all in drinking water anymore.  Started having watery diarrhea.  All in all it seems like some GI virus or something.  Im concerned becasue it seems like he is almost afraid to eat or it hurts for him to eat.  I guess it is possible his esophagus hurts from the retching?  Anyone had experience with this?  He is still making urine so we will watch closely this weekend but definitely have a low threshold to bring him back to the vet.  Thanks for any advice.

Did Vet take a stool sample?

He may have giardia or some intestinal bug. My boy would get this on occasion and Vet would put him on the antibiotic Flagyl for a week. Cleared up everything.  Good Luck!

Stop the Reglan

My boy looked like he was in pain also from taking Reglan. I would stop giving it to him especially if he is still vomiting. Try giving him water with electrolytes too.

Just went through this exact thing 2 weeks ago....

Vet gave her anti-nausea meds and fluids.  She didn't want to eat either which shocked me because this girl never turns down a meal! He's probably just still a little nauseous. I think it is okay if he is not interested in food, but be careful with the water because he can get dehydrated with all the vomitting and diarrhea. Any chance he could have eaten something that could cause an obstruction?? Hope he feels better soon!!

This seems...

..to be the same thing Violet had.  The Reglan makes her superr anxious/agitated .  We have cut down the dose, but cannot completely stop it yet because she needs it for her stomach motility.  It's hard to distinguish the difference between whether they still are sick or just side effects of the meds.  She is also on baytril and flagyl. Maybe this is a virus going around?

Good luck, I hope he feels better soon!

Thanks for the advice. The

Thanks for the advice. The reglan was just a single dose so don't think it was that. His energy is up today and appetite is a little better but still it of interested in drinking much water. Slept out on the couch with him again last night and woke up twice to the poor guy having diarrhea. Hopefully this is just a virus. We will stay the course as I seems he's doing ok. If he doesn't get better by Monday will probably bring him back in o get checked.

Goats milk..

You'd can find it in the raw food section at your local pet store.. When Hanna had pudding poop the vet suggested I give that to her 3 times a day and then start her food back normally on the second day. By the end if the second day she was back to normal =)
