Need advice on My new girl!

Hello, I have been researching for months about Bulldogs; found a breeder, was anxiously waiting on this little puppy to be born, then guess what? My husband saw this poor little girl chained outside, to a sort of a dog house, the chain was tangled, she only had like 11 inches of chain (no joke), and bought her on the spot to get her out of that situation. The good new is, she gets along great with our other dogs, is loving the house, no accidents. However, she has this large lump above her tail that is driving her crazy. Our neighbor said years ago he had a dog like ours, and she had a cyst on her tail. She was ate up with fleas, now my other dogs and my house is infested, and one of her breasts is rather large. I can't feel a lump, but it's tender and she doesn't like you touching it. She has an appointment with the vet on Thursday, but today is only Monday. Is there anything I can do to make her more comfortable until she gets in to see the doc? She has had puppies in the past, 2 litters, one c-sec and one natural birth, however, only 1 baby survived. They've still got him and I would love to get him out of there, too, but they won't part with him. She's 5 years old and I'm clueless. What is the best food to feed her? I feed my others Eukanuba, and she's been eating that, but it's for small breed puppies. Any help or advice would be soooo appreciated! Thanks so much!!!!

Awww, poor little girl...

so glad she's been rescued.  Don't know about the lumps, but as for food, we've found that grainfree is the best.  There are a lot of brands and protein types )lamb, fish, chicken, beef) but we like the fish (usually salmon) because the protein level is just right for bulldogs (25%).  We use the Costco brand  grainfree salmon and sweetpotato, but there are other brands like Natural Balance, Taste of the Wild, etc.  The better brands will be at a feed store or boutique, not Petsmart or Petco except for Natural Balance.  Hope the vet can get her back in shape, whatever happens she'll at least have some happiness.

Costco food

Hi Kathy - we use the lamb and brown rice from Costco.  Do they have a Kirkland brand of salmon and sweet potato?  Have you used the lamb and brown rice before too?

Thanks!

Costco does have a grain free salmon/sweet potato food...

the brand they have here in Az is Natures Domain and some stores have it under Pelican Bay.  We've had so many skin allergy problems that could have been caused by rice and grains that we make sure we don't feed it to them anymore.  They just seem to do better on a grain free.  If you do switch foods, do it very slowly so you don't upset her stomach.  The Costco grain free is sooo much cheaper than other brands.

I live in Jacksonville Florida

and the Costco here does not carry that line of food. I sent an e-mail to Costco and they told me it just depends on where you live.

it took our Costco a while to get it in...

and then they changed from Pelican Bay to Natures Domain, so we had to do the slow switch again, but it's been fine ever since.  There are a lot of grainfrees out there including Natural Balance which is a little cheaper than Taste of the Wild.  We used to feed our boy Oscar the NB duck potato because he was allergic to almost everything.  Keep bugging Costco, sometimes they get things in if you ask enough.

Love Nature's Domain

I am on my 3rd bag.  Super shiney coats and the dogs absolutely love it!  I use it for treats they love it so much!  I was using the Kirkland lamb & rice or chicken & rice and thought that was really good too.  But seriously much happier with the ND Salmon.  Would like to get the Turkey to alternate proteins, but so far all my local Costco has is the Salmon.
