I think Meatball has an ear infection.... :( I have an appointment for the vet for thursday - but in the mean time does anyone have any suggestions as to how I can make him comfortable?? I'm exhausted because i was worried about him all night and he was really restless....
I've hear that diluted tea tree oil (on a cotton ball) can help, or a mixture of 1/3 peroxide, 1/3 vinegar 1/3 water solution. Anyone have any other suggestions??? I am cleaning it (with a cotton ball) and an ear cleaner (starts with the letter "O"...for the life of me i can't remember what its called). But other than that - i don't know how to make him comfortable until thursday.....
Any help would be appreciated.....thanks so much!!!!

I would try
1/2 red wine vinegar to 1/2 water. I would not mix in the peroxide. use a cotton ball like you are doing.
I have used this with success to clean the ears. Before I knew about this formular. We had ear infections and used drops from the vet.
Sometimes food can cause a yeasty problem you might want to think about that after you find out what is going on from your vet.

How do you get rid of a yeast
How do you get rid of a yeast problem? I am wondering if that is what is wrong with my Bella's skin issues?
Yeast is usually a sign of
allergic reaction to a food. Do you have Bella on a grain free food? Onslow has done better on Taste of the Wild than anything else so far. I know he can't have chicken.
We use Vagisil wipes on his yeasty parts (feet ears face) but you really need to get to the root of the problem because that won't fix it. =(
Yes we had her on Horizon's
Yes we had her on Horizon's legacy, when she broke out, so switched to NB, with no change so the Vet has us on a Vet Food. Only a few days, but still getting new bumps on her back, also on Cephalexin 625mg x2 a day for 30 days, for a staph infection in the bumps. She is also on Fuciderm Gel 15gm twice a day. This is her second big attack of this, in less than 2 months. When we first got her she had a postule on her vulva that was removed and tested, came back a some sort of imflamatory process. Then she got another one after her first heat. Then finally they broke out on her back about 12 of them and she lost the hair there, but it all grew back. I noticed that her skin darken up all over her body during that main attack. Vet put her on steriods for three weeks, but they came back in the last week of the steriods. So I am at a lost.
I just read in Dr. Goldsteins
The Nature of Animal Healing the remedy that he prescribes for chronic yeast infections of the ear.
One teaspoon of apple cider vinegar in half a cup of water and flush into the ear. This creates an aid environment that kills the yeast.
Saturating a cotton ball and using that may be simpler to administer.
Hope these suggestions are helpful.
Thanks Carol!
That sounds like a great idea. I appreciate the info!

Apple Cider Vinegar
I have recently started using one part organic apple cider vinegar to two parts bottled water to clean our boys ears and folds. Just make sure that the ear is not inflamed as the vinegar will sting. It has helped our Ben. Good luck!

Update on Meatball's Ear....
So i went home after work and mixed (equal parts) vinegar, rubbing alcohol and water. Put it in a small squirty bottle and gave Meatballs ear a goooooood squirt.
Immediately he was happier!!!! I took him for a walk right after to distract him, when we got home i was going to wipe the excess wax out and low and behold....no wax! His ear was clear!!! And completely dry!!!!!! Amazing!!!
Thank-you all for your advice - WE really appreciate it. I'll keep up with our "medicine" and see what the vet says tomorrow....
Thanks again!!! Big hugs to you all.....
