My Moose has been pooping in his crate,at night, for the last 4 days. We having been getting alot of raining lately so haven't been watching him while he goes outside! Last night I discovered that his poops are all loose, not diarrhea just loose. This morning I gave him half of his food with yogurt on it. He is not at all happy with the reduction in food but untill I can get to the store for chicken that will have to do. I have read chicken/rice for about 4 days and then slowly with the dog food is best. What i was wondering could I change his food from taste of the wild salmon to lamb? He has been on the salmon for about 5 wks and I'm not that happy with it, around his mouth is alittle red and now i have to wipe his butt after every poop. I really need your advice along with this my father passed so we will be traveling in the next few days. Other than this issue he is still very active for a 6 month old bullie.....thanks again!
You definitely need a bland diet to firm him up...
also, put some plain canned pumpkin on his food, a tbsp or two each meal. If he gets diarrhea, you can give him immodium. We have two of our guys on TOTW lamb formula, they are doing great. Newman was itchy on it and had a gunky tail, so we put him on TOTW salmon and he's doing great. They all have firm poops. It's just an individual thing. You could try the lamb, but it usually takes 6 weeks to see a significant change from food.
thanks!
I really appreciate the help. Going to give him just rice till I can get to the store for chicken.
You can use hamburger too...
just make sure you cook it with water and pat the fat off.
