Liver Shunt

Hi everyone, I'm new to this site and I must say it is one of the best Bulldog sites that I have found. I have a wonderful 14 month old bully named Abigail who is the light of my life. She has had a very exciting medical life, knees, hips, nose, UTI's. All fixed and in working order. About 3 months ago she started with drinking ALOT and I mean Alot of water and what goes in must come out. A lot of Googling and research and trips to the vet. It was thought DI (water diabeties). So then we had to rule out a lot of other stuff before she would be started on a trial med for the DI. Bile acid was high, and then the ultrasound shows a large liver shunt. WOW not what we had hoped for. It is an extahepatic and operable. But besides the drinking and peeing the only other symptom of liver shunt she has is, she is small and slim for her age. Please has anyone every had a liver shunt issue, and how was the outcome. She has an appt. at Tufts animal hospital this week to consult with a surgeon, But even with all she has been through this one scares the heck out of me. Any help would be appreciated.

I left you a personal message.
