My 3 year old bulldog just started licking the air and curling his nose repeatedly for a few minutes early this morning. He's done it probably 3-4 times for a minute or so. Anything I should be concerned about or is this just a weird bully antic? Thanks!
anything else unusual??
Licking the air is generally an indication of pain in dogs...the nose scrunching makes me think something hurts too. Is your bully doing anything else odd or usual?

My swimming bully buddy!
no....
Thanks Shannon. Nothing else is unusual (except we have a new baby in the house!) He is eating and peeing/pooping normally. Anything I should look for?
First, check his tail to make sure it's not bothering him...
especially if he has a deep pocket. Air licking can be a neuro thing also or related to low blood sugar. Next time he does it, try giving him a spoonful of karo syrup or something similar and see if it stops. Our Chester does it a lot and usually the sweet helps. When he's doing the licking is he aware of his surroundings? Does he look at you if you have a treat or call him?
RE: First, check his tail to make sure it's not bothering him...
Checked his pocket and that didn't seem to bother him. That is interesting about the blood sugar. We can try that. It has seemed to pretty much stop though. He is aware and when we call his name and say "stop," he will. Thanks for the help!!
henery does the air licking when he is
stressed...some times casper pushes him to hard when their playing and he gets all upset......i just distract him by giving him some cheese...and making everyone lay down..
I love this picture of Henry!!
The stink eye and 'tude are so perfect!! :)

Stress...
Well I guess he could certainly be stressed as we have a 3 week old newborn in the house who makes him nervous when she screams! Hope that is it. Thanks for the help.
Sissy does this constantly!
Sissy does this constantly! The worst is at bedtime, she will sit in her crate and you just hear the slurping noises...
