what do you use for a dog with seasonal allergies? Now that Audrey is 22 months old, we can see her eyes/nose running at the season changes. Her tear stains are worse and her nose runs, making under her nose rope gunky. I do have local honey, but what else can I do for her to help?

allergies.....
if your getting tear stains...i would suspect some thing your feeding...double check all your additives...some are processed with sugar and will casue tear stains...she be having a reaction to a new source of food....tear stains are produced by the body..this is why i dont feel its a seasonal allergy....wilosn has contact allergies...swelling of the face and feet and sneezing...we dont get red tear stains...when ever one of mine get red tear stains i back track to see what i added it takes about a month...so thats why i always write on my calender if i added some thing new...
additives are good but you need to be careful of whats on the label...especially if your giving more than one....hope this helps....i would just add a benadryl a nite if their is itching or a stuffy nose
Audrey has had red tear stains
every single day of her life :-( Sometimes they fade but they are always there. Her eyes water, and in the spring and fall the are gunky. Her nose is runny now too, it is clear but runny, and she is snoring like she is congested. That's what made me think allergies.
I can't think of what she is eating that could be causing the tear stains! The only additive she has always gotten is the probiotics. Do you think it could be that? We stopped giving her the vitamin, fish oil has no sugar, we just started the glucosamine, and she still had the stains without it. There is no sugar in DE, plus she had the stains without that too. Do you know of a probiotic I can try, to see if that helps? I can try to just eliminate them altogether, do you think that would be harmful to her? She has been eating raw for close to 10 months now.
Since she throws up just about everything that isn't raw meat, she only gets VERY limited non-meat food. Maybe 3 times a week she'll get some dehydrated bananas, if that.

Judy you are a genius!
I am SO glad to have you!
I just read the label on the probiotics, and sure enough it says it's got dextrins for stability! Looked up dextrins, and YEP! It's sugar!
So, my question is, do I look for new probiotics, or just do without them?

are your probioticst
from wolfcreek...did you check their web site for a better one....i use across the counter probitcs my holistic vet recommened company is schiff probiotic acidophilus,,,but i ony use this if their on antibotics having dirrhea..other wise they only get once a day is the cod liver tab...you might want to go every three days and see if the tear stains clear up..or stop using and if in two weeks you see achange thats your problem...yougurt has alot of sugar also...and if your adding in vegetables check them....my dogs love melon and i freeze melon balls for them but it also has alot of sugar....just try a elimation of the additives for two weeks and see what happens....
no, not wolfcreek
I'll look for some from them though. Audrey doesn't get any veggies and fruit only mabe 8-10 times a month at most. I will stop the probiotics to see if that clears it up.
Thanks Judy!
