Itchy paw relief?
Submitted by kimrisa on July 21, 2010 - 5:12pmMy vet says to give Benadryl if Tuffy is licking/biting incessantly at his paws but I wonder if there is a home remedy to try before that? Will soaking in the Epson salts help with itchiness or is that just to heal the cysts? He doesn't seem to have any cysts between his toes. I've tried cortisone cream but I'm worried he'll lick it off. Any other ideas for topical remedies to relieve the itchyness?

Epsom Salts are mainly for the soars...
But may help slightly with the itching. Use the Benedryl...it works wonderfully for us:-) I don't hesitate to give it to Sophia to relieve her itchies,

If he gets bad, I'll start with (1) 25 mg tablet. Do you give Sophia it twice a day when she's itchy?
I give her 2 x daily.
I give her one in the am and one in the pm if needed.
