Is it yeast or bacteria?

And does it matter? Chumlee hasn't had any problems with ears until now. Last night I caught him rubbing his head across the carpet and he got some rug burn. He has been scratching so bad he got little tiny sores that will bleed a tiny bit when you wipe them. I cleaned out his ears with cotton and got light brown stuff out and some dead hairs and he did the thumper with his leg like crazy. I gave him a benedryl last night and this morning and I found some otomax from my other dog when she had an ear infection last Spring. Should I use that? Seems like I'm at the vet with Chumlee every other week these days.

I would try the vinegar

water solution first. About one T to a cup of water. I have to soak it in cotton ball and squeeze in ear.

Hopefully doing this for a few days will solve the problem......that and feeding raw....:)

Hi Carol

I made the guy who sits on the other end of the couch go to the vitamin shoppe for the Braggs ; )   And I knew you were going to say that about raw feeding and I am leaning towards that way.  I giggle when I see London broil on sale...

Agree with Carol Apple cider vinegar

If it's yeast and you can get the ear really well cleaned it should take care of it.  I would clean it twice a day for a day or two  if you see improvement you can gradually back off the twice a day cleaning and just go to once a day.

The ottomax is good for either yeast or bacteria in ears.
