My Female Bully just had puppies for the first time around six or so months back. She came into heat again a while back, and since I have a fenced in back yard I would usually let her out to play and romp around. Well sometime last week I noticed that her tits were overly big but I just let it go, and then a couple of days later my wife commented to me how Victorya, our bully, looked pregnant. A light went on in my head, so I called Victorya over inspected her and sure enough she is impregnated. I nearly blew my top! I am thinking that some mut dog dug underneath the cedar fence and got to her. I still get very upset, to the point of cussing, every time I think about it. I believe that she will be delivering sometime at the end of this month or so. My question is what can I do or what should I do? I need some advice, how will this affect Victorya who just came out of having one litter of nine puppies? I am thinking that the best thing to do is to put these animals up for adoption when they arrive. I don't know?
Backyard
Why do you think she is pregnant? Was she left uattended in the backyard while she was in season? I would suggest you get an ultrasound done. She could be having a false pregancy if you were being responsible with her.
Looks pregnant and yes.
I believe she is pregnant because her tits were normal looking up until sometime after her latest heat cycle, although I hope that maybe you are right and maybe it is a false pregnancy. As far as being responsible with her, I would think that I have been. Like I mentioned before I have a fenced in back yard and the cedar fence starts from the ground up, unfortunately I have a neighbor who has a mixed german sheppard who I believe dug his way into my backyard and I say this because I noticed a hole underneath the fence on their side of my house. That is the reason I built that fence from the ground up so that Victorya could be free to do as she pleased outside, without getting bothered by all the mutt dogs that are running around our neighborhood. As to the ultrasound I had forgotten about that I guess I will take care of that today and see what happens.
i have seen false pregnancy before
and its spooky how authentic it looks! check before you panic. post again, i am curious to know if she is! good luck!

Wow James is beautifull and
Wow James is beautifull and yes I will post results.
I've gone through 2 false or
I've gone through 2 false or phantom pregnancies. My black lab went in to be spayed and the vet discovered she was in the middle of one. Her tits were starting to fill, and her uterus was swollen. It was actually difficult to spay her because her tissues was difficult to stitch. Very similar to a real pregnancy, just no puppies!
Fence
Well intact bitches will attract male dogs and should never be left alone when they are in season. When my bitch is in season she doesn't leave my site when she is in the yard and I also have a 6 ft solid cedar fenced yard and no neighbors with dogs. Keeping an eye on them is the responsible thing to do.
I hope you get the ultrasound done and that she is having a false pregancy. They can get enlarged tits when they have a false pregancy and it can be pretty common especially for a bitch that has had a litter. I hope you have her spayed, so no more mistakes happen. You are putting her life endanger by not controling the situation.
an idea
Take her in for an ultrasound or an xray to be sure if she is pregnant. If she is, ask your Vet about aborting the litter. The world doesn't need anymore mutts. If she is pregnant and you let her continue with it, remember that she will need a c-section ($$$), you will need to raise the pups (time), and then need to find suitable homes for them (more time) that will spay/neuter the pups (the responsible thing to do).
Sad situation, but I agree with aborting the litter.
She doesn't need another litter after she has recently had one. I would do the tough thing here and abort this litter.

I agree...
that if possible and safe to do so the pups, if she is pregnant, should be aborted in the best interest of all concerned. There is nothing good to be gained by her having this litter. It is an unfortunate situation for everyone and hopefully this is just a false pregnancy.
A question and a comment:
Comment: Some famillies would loooooove a mutt (Tony is the light of our lives! Couldnt care how many breeds he is and infact am convinced he is part mongoose) so if you look for them, there are homes for mutts. Almost everyone I know has a mutt...and growing up every family dog we had was a mutt and they were the center of our family life (and very spoiled). Pitbull mixes are a hard sell, but if in fact this is a shepard bulldog combo, please make an effort to find people who would be happy to take them...theyre out there!
Question: Is "tits" really the word you use for the...uhm....y'know....tits? In Hawaii we call them chichis.
I dont have anything to add to the abortion suggestion except that since she just had a litter you need to consider her health. that could be hard on her to have another litter so soon....

chichis
Haha .. I actually call them boobies, lol!
8 puppies
What with X-mas and the New Year, just now found time to post on Victorya's situation. So just in case somebody out there was still curious about what ever happened with Victorya's pregnant or not pregnant status, yes, she was pregnant. Had her deliver the puppies, she had eight. Seems puppies are doing all right, and will probably start looking for people to adopt them later on. It's too bad that they are not full blooded Bully's, as one of them is extremely cute. It is all white with brown patches around both eyes. Thank you all for all of the information and suggestions as to how to deal with Victorya's situation. Wishing you all, the very best.
