I don't get it. Fatboy doesn't eat
Submitted by Fatboy on August 9, 2011 - 12:25amI thought it was the antibiotics but he's been off of them since Friday morning and he still has no interest in food. He'll nibble at it but that's about it. I put it out for him 15 minutes in the morning and 15 minutes at night. I have to take him back in to the vet sometime soon to get the ear rechecked so I'll ask them about his eating habbits too. But this really concerns me. I'm afraid he ate something he shouldn't have and now it's stuck inside.
He runs, jumps, plays, and acts normal throughout the day. I just can't figure him out. Thoughts?

Did you just open a new bag of food?
If so, it's possible the food may be bad. Or, it may be simply that your dog does not lime the food you are giving him.
Just curious but what are you feeding him?

Also, he wouldn't run, play and jump as before if he had an obstruction.
If you don't determine that it's the food, hopefully he comes around soon to eating as before, but sometimes they need a little enticement--sprinkle parmesan cheese on the food or put a little canned food or hard boiled egg in it. Good luck--he's so cute!~
maybe its a combo of things--
do dogs stomach's shrink after not eating for a while like humans? when our dog doesnt eat we do mix in the shredded cheese-- usually sparks his interest.

We had switched him over to Blue Wilderness Salmon
prior to the antibiotics and he ate that just fine. He started eating normall again; a mixture of dry w/wet dog food for breakfast and dinner. He was actually waiting by his eating area both times of the day anticipating the food so I was happy because he seemed to be a picky eater. It's a brand new bag of dog and canned food. But now the meds are done and over with we're back at square one.
