We just had a new litter about 3 weeks ago, 8 in all, but we have lost 2. The puppies were a little on the small side, ranging from 11 to 14 oz. They all are active and nursing ravenously. At last weig-in they ranged in weight from 19 to 24 oz. Is this ok? I saw somewhere where they should be close to 4 lbs by 4 weeks. Need I worry....any more?
Thanks
Weight
11-14 oz is average for a large litter. Rule of thumb--should dbl birth weight within 7-10 days and triple by 3 weeks. Should also show a steady daily weight gain.

Puppy weights
For such a large litter (8) I would consider 11 -14 oz birth weights great, not small.
Agree with above poster - double w\their birthweight by 7 to 10 days, triple by 3 weeks.
BTW, I have a litter of 3 males (started out with 5) that are 4 weeks old and they weigh between 3-3/4 and 4 1/4 pounds. Their momma has had an amazing amount of milk and they are little pigs!
Have you wormed your pups yet? If they aren't gaining weight well but are eating good, I'd suspect parasites.
