well i ordered someting

well i ordered someting called The missing link for canine. Its a supplement and Im gonna see if it helps him People claim it makes there hair grow back and it is good for their digestion. Ill let ya know how it works. I should have it next week. I am thinking of getting some medicated shampoo and washing him with that also. Gave him benadryl today Well see how it goes. Anyone have a good brand of medicated shampoo to use? Last stuff I got from vet for 28.00 ouch

Staph won't go away without medication

why don't you take him to the vet?

I will take him to vet if I

I will take him to vet if I need to . i just thought with everyone on heres experience Id see if anyone ever has seen it and what theyd try. Thanks for all your advise

This time I'm going to disagree :0)

with Lisa.  I think most of the time we agree.  A dog can fight off a staph infection without being on meds, especially if it is relatively minor. Just like a puppy can fight off demodex on their own without meds. Most of use choose to help the process along by getting medication.  If the immune system is too weak and/or too compromised then it is likely they need an extra boost. I would boost the immune system with a good supplement as a start.

haha we do usually agree

Ok well in my experience I've never been able to get rid of it on my own.  =)

Onslow has these spots right now.  I am going to religiously use the listerine and see if I can stop it before the vet!

Good Luck

Let me know if he can kick it on his own.

Bella gets this also

My Bella get this on a regular basis. We have been to the vet several several times and have tried all types of medication. It is just bad skin and we actually use listerin mouth wash (the brown one) and it really keeps it under control. But it never completely goes away for good. It is something she will have forever.

bullseyesmomma's picture

so how do you apply the

so how do you apply the listerine? after a bath when has is wet? dab on with cotton ball or pour or spray with a bottle?

Deb and MacKenzie and Ester's picture

Brown Listerine

on a cotton ball and you can apply gold bond powder after.  Are they dry spots?  No moisture?

Missing Link is a good supplement. I used to use it and had great results with it.

lvmybullie's picture

Listerine

Every other day we dab it on the bad places with a cotton ball and just let it dry. It has made a big difference.

bullseyesmomma's picture

ok today after a major

ok today after a major brushing of his hair he does have sores where the hair loss is. pout I have to say it is probably is a staph infection. I will have to call vet and see about antibiotics. They are not oozing but there is a spot where the original hair loss spot started that is a circle and reddish and some scaleness.

I started him on The Missing Link today.

Question though.. If your bully lays on a blanket of yours does your blanket smell like dog? he makes my blankets smell like dog but always has.

Deb and MacKenzie and Ester's picture

Yes - Sounds like staph

the way you described the spots with the little scab.  When you get rid of the staph he will smell better.
