I need some help/advice.......not sure if my bulldog has a hemorrhoid. He's 8 years old and just recently his bottom is bleeding everytime goes to the bathroom. Sometimes when I wipe his bottom it looks like there is something there like a hemorrhoid. The vet said he didn't see anything wrong, but its still happening.
Help!
Not sure what the answer could be, but here's a few thoughts.
First, are you seeing an actual sore spot?
Has his eating changed at all lately, like new treats or a new feed? It could well be an irritated bowel that is bleeding a bit. If it were me, I would first try eliminating that possibility. If you haven't changed anything at all, then does he have a weepy tail pocket that could be bleeding down onto his bum and that could be the source of the problem? I am only asking things I would look for or think if Sophie had this happening.
Best of luck! I know others will hopefully come with better information....

No food or treat change and
No food or treat change and no tail pocket issues......after he does his business and I wipe him you can see this little red thing kind of poppin out of his bottom (sorry to be graphic). It's only after he done then he's fine. Its like he's irritaing something as he goes potty.
I'm getting worried.
Our first bulldog Rocky had something that sounds similar.
He was also about 8 years old when we noticed that he had small "bumps" that resembled hemorroids around his rectum. They would sometimes bleed a bit after he pottied. At a visit to a local vet (not our regular bulldog vet) they wanted to surgically remove them. They told us they had occured from hormones?? Rocky was not nuetered. Our regular vet did not agree - he advised us to monitor them but felt that surgery was not necessary or recommended. Partly because
of his age and also because
they did not seem to be causing Rocky any pain.

My Ferguson isn't
My Ferguson isn't neutered.....maybe it's the same thing, because he doesn't even seem to notice anything going on. He has no problem going to the bathroom, so I don't think it's hurting him. Our Vet said he wouldn't worry about it either....he also added, red blood isn't bad (within reason), black blood is dangerous. So I figured something was just irratating him as he went. You just gave me the relief I was looking for. I'll keep an eye on him, but this was definitely a relief.
Thanks!!!!!!!!
