Help needed...AGAIN!

I feel like more poor bulldog is forever having issues!!!!

We were having severe shedding issues, I just thought it was the season and maybe a food change to Royal Canine but I think I have more problems. The last few days Gemma has been doing a lot of butt scooting almost like she wants to chase her tail. I think she may have a tail infection. I'll be honest, i'm not the best at cleaning it out but she does go to the groomers weekly. We cleaned it out today and not much seemed to come out of it (the cloth wasn't too dirty) but she didn't like it at all!! It was almost worse when we got the cloth out from the tail pocket. Also, she has been battling a left ear infection and today the right one is now terrible. I'm wondering if all these things are connected. When I take her to the vet in China I have to be very educated so I can make sure she is treated the right way. Now I don't have any idea what she should be tested for or how it should be treated.

Thanks everyone.

Can you get any food there for her that is grain free?

Or possibly try a raw diet with her? It sounds like she may be having allergy issues. With her ears and tail pocket gunky, or smelly or yeasty, and her excessive shedding, coupled with not eating well....it may be something in the diet she is not able to tolerate.

A towel or wash cloth isn't going to clean her tail pocket all that well. Do you have a spray nozzle on your shower or sink that you could use to spray a steady stream of luke warm water in there some? Then you can use a little dish soap or shampoo on a finger and clean up around the inside of the pocket well. Make sure you rinse it very well to get all of the soap residue out. It could be she isn't getting it cleaned well at the groomers and you might need to do it yourself at home. Also, make sure the groomer is rinsing the shampoo off her really well. Any residue could cause some issues. But mostly I think your main problem could be allergy related.

I'll see if I can get some

I'll see if I can get some grain free food here. I gave her some chicken breast today and she loved it so it isn't that she isn't hungry. I'll do some research on the raw diet, maybe I can at least give her some regular food.
This am she seemed a little better, not sitting down as much. If I don't see improvement by tom I'll take her to the vet

If she's scooting...

she might need her anal glands expressed.  Some dogs do it naturally but others need a little help.  The groomer should be able to do this if you ask or the vet.

I'm so uneducated on this! I

I'm so uneducated on this! I doubt the groomer is doing this. We did get some hairball type things out of the tail pocket, it is deep! She still seems to have pain. We put desitin on it and gold bond powder but I don't want to put too much stuff on it.
Thanks!

To Kathy Ollie

Thanks so much for you advice on the anal glands. I took her to the vet and he expressed them...not a pleasant thing to see!!! Gross! He told me I should have it done every 7 to 10 days, what do you think?

Also, with a food change to Eukanuba all of our shedding and ear infection issues are gone! I'm so happy, for the time being it seems like a have sweet, healthy girl! :)
