Help needed for severe teething in 3 week old pups
Submitted by Bullybabes on October 22, 2011 - 11:32pmI've never seen pups teeth this bad in 18 years. I have two that have been screaming all day. I've tried Anbesol, frozen socks, nothing is working. Any other ideas? Yes, I'm sure it's teeth. Appetites are fine. They bite down on fingers and shake. I can feel 5 teeth in each puppy trying to erupt at the same time.

Wow! I've never seen/heard this either--haven't experienced a problem with puppies' teething. I wonder if it isn't possibly something else.....hunger.....maybe milk's insufficient and mom could be backing off due to the biting. Have you started them on gruel, yet? Good luck!

I supplemented them with Just Born milk replacer and started them on gruel yesterday. I usually don't start until at least 3 1/2 weeks but they did really well with it. They are very fat babies. I'm starting to wonder if it's like IBD caused by diarrhea that came on with the teething. I'm also giving them Albon in case they developed Coccidia which is not uncommon when stressed.
