Seasonal Flank Alopecia
get him off the meds and put him in the sunshine or get him some melatonin. Not serious at all.

Also, I would seek out a vet that has a little more bulldog knowledge. They should have known that. :(
I completely agree.
This is called Seasonal Flank Alopecia nad is caused by lack of natural sunlight during winter months. I would do as Lisa said, get him/her out in the sunshine more (but watch the heat, obviously) and possibly get them on Melatonin.

That's exactly how Gizmo's sides look - now that we can trust her through out the house when we arent home, she's been laying in the sunbeams :) so we are hoping it gets better - When we had her kenneled, it was in the middle of the house, didnt want the sun beating in on her.

a million thanks that is it wow you all are super great its 79 we are going outside now
I don't necessarily agree w/ Alopecia...because it's
also all over his back. Alopecia is typically on the dogs sides not all over the body. Did the vet do a skin scraping for staph or demodex? A dog with demodex can look like this. What was he looking for with a black light?
not sure what he was looking
not sure what he was looking for he asked if we have other animals we dont. he did a scrapping last year when he had bumps but not this time this is not red and no odor should i request a scrapping
Staph or Demodex
does not always have any odor. I would suggest a skin scraping, just to rule either of those out.
What re you feeding? Have you considered changing food or have you tried other foods. Does he get thick red goop in his ears?
Do you feed a Salmon oil or somekind of supplement with Omega 3 & 6.
he is on taste of the wild
he is on taste of the wild salmon his ears are always goopy i have tried every grain free food i can find in oklahoma i do not give supplements how much would he get he is 70 lbs
Seasonal alopecia....
.....and maybe something else coincidentally going on at the same time. The side baldness with black skin looks like the seasonal alopecia, but I agree with Deb that it would not be on the back. I don't know what demodex looks like, but I'd suggest a thyroid test. Good luck.
Agree Thyroid test
wouldn't hurt to rule that out as well.
I will ask them to do a
I will ask them to do a scraping and thyroid test the vet actually said i would test him for thyroid this is the age it starts showing but then he did not test him. thank you
