We have been feeding are dog Wellness Core for the past year and several months ago we noticed he was starting to itch his eyes like crazy. We tried to control it with benedryl, but this wasn't helping, so we decided to switch foods. We changed him to Natural Balance, vegetarian formula, which worked, he was no longer itching his eyes, however he was getting really bad red blisters on his chin, that when he plays they brake and bleed which he never had before. So, we dediced to swtich foods again to Natural Balance, sweet potato and fish, which took care of the blisters, but now he's itching his eyes again. The food that caused his eyes to itch both have sweet potato and samon oil. The food that caused the blisters had oatmeal and brown rice. So I guess were trying to narrow down which of these items that is found in either of the foods could be causing this or do you know of any food that don't have any of these ingredients, as they all seem quit common in all of the foods we have looked at???
So we are now stumped on what food to give him ? Any help would be great
Thanks alot

After a quick search here is one that may have ingredients that work for you. I have never personally used this food for my bulldog but it doesn't have any of the 4 ingredients that you don't want. A lot of the brands list "potatos" now whether they were red potatos, white potatos, sweet, dehydrated sweet; we don't know :( I would guess they were regular white potatos. I was hoping Pinnacle would work for you but I checked all of their ingredients and they all have Salmon Oil.

Although a fresh raw diet or limited ingredient kibble would probably be best.

Our guys have had food allergy problems...
bad tear stains, itching, etc. The only thing we've found that works is Taste of the Wild pacific stream which is salmon and sweet potato. It's grain free. I know that Oatmeal will start our guys itching. See if you can find a completely grain free food and remember it takes up to 6 weeks to see any results.
IĀ also feed Taste of The Wild
I also feed Taste of The Wild Pacific Stream and have been for about 2 years now. My girls love the food and I haven't had any issue with them. On a side note to the OP. Earthborn Holistic was mentioned in a post. Also very good food and they offer a grain free product as well. I tried this food a few years back and my dogs loved it as well but the gas was unbearable. This food is high in protein! Just FYI.

Thanks for the help =]
Thanks for the help everyone, hopefully something new works.
Trail and Error
What works for my dog won;t work for yours. You just have to find what works. TOTW Pacific Stream gave my Ester a horrible staph infection and she pukes if she gets salmon.
My sister is having great luck with Acana for Cleo, who is the only dog I have had that has difficult allergy issues. She was scratching and licking her paws with NB and she had terrible tear stains.
Good luck with your search.
You definitely can't go wrong with Acana
it's such a good line.
