Has anyone tried Calm Coat on SFA?

Deuce got SFA (seasonal flank alopecia) last year and I was hoping to combat it this year by starting the melatonin early......well I can see a small spot of it coming in so I guess the melatonin isn't working.  Has anyone tried Calm Coat on SFA and if so did it work?

I have used it

but it is so greasy I didn't want it wiped all over my furniture, so I never used it long term. I've heard others say if works but I don't know.  Ester had Alopecia once a couple of years ago but it has never come back.

I've never heard of any supplement

having much effect on SFA. I've had dogs with it and chose not to give them anything. It's only cosmetic and I don't like giving my dogs supplements/additives/medications for conditions that aren't medical.

i tried calm coat

and rex hates the smell of it and goes crazy so i only applied it once and that was the end of it.   A couple of years ago rex lost his hair from a chigger attack (i think) and i gave him melatonin 3mg every night for 3 months and his hair did come back.

well this year he lost his hair again, i think from the bacterial infection he was battling and was on antibiotics for two months - this time the melatonin did not work :-(   and i read some where that it may not work after initially working the first time.
