I wondered if anyone has seen this before? We're thinking fungal infection or vitamin deficiency????

Looks like seasonal flank alopecia...

a fancy name for hair loss.  It's pretty common and I have heard people talk about treating it with Melatonin and fish oil.  I think it happens more frequently in the winter.

thank you! interesting, I've been giving them both

flax seed and cooked brown rice in their kibble, thinking they could both use more fiber, not to

mention the wonderful Omega-Threes.  I actually started doing it more for Sophie, since

she's having anal gland issues/ soft stools.  Thanks for your input!  I'm curious if it will

get better or not, hubby thinks we should hold off on the vet for a while to see.......

Both by bullies has this, vet

Both by bullies has this, vet said it was common and feed fish oil.  Takes about 3 months .  She also said it is because of lack of sun in the winter.  Don't know how true that is.  Both dogs got there hair back and now I feed fish oil every day.

Flank Alopecia - Gizmo has it on both sides

No one for sure knows what causes it, alot think lack of Vit D 'The Sunshine Vitamin' winter where the sun isnt as strong etc -  Gizmo's kennel is in an area of the house, that doesnt get direct sunlight thrown on her, and we think that might be her reason - she surely loves sleeping in the sun rays ever chance she gets though ! :) it might happend 1 season, or it might happend for several seasons and then go away. 'its just one of those things'

Yep Alopecia

More sunlight!   Some say melatonin works and I've hear others say it didn't, but you could try it.   It's nothing serious just doesn't look great.  The hair may come back in the summer.
