Growling in sleep

Is a dog growling in his sleep an indicator of pain, or just a bad dream? Our 8 year old Spanky often wakes up growling and barking. His limbs also move when he is asleep. After he quits barking, he seems ok.

My bully does that too...

He can be fast asleep and growl really loud. I think maybe they are having bad dreams.

Rocky use to do that also

We use to laugh it was so cute. I think he got his exercise in his sleep.

Barks and growls in his sleep. I love to watch him and listen. It is so funny. Norbert used to run in his sleep.
