Is a dog growling in his sleep an indicator of pain, or just a bad dream? Our 8 year old Spanky often wakes up growling and barking. His limbs also move when he is asleep. After he quits barking, he seems ok.
I don't think it's any cause for concern!
He can be fast asleep and growl really loud. I think maybe they are having bad dreams.
We use to laugh it was so cute. I think he got his exercise in his sleep.

I was afraid he might be in some kind of pain. Glad to know that it is nothing to worry about.
Barks and growls in his sleep. I love to watch him and listen. It is so funny. Norbert used to run in his sleep.
