It has now been a day or so since the snowstorm gave us over a foot here in RI.
This means Matilda is now in winter mode, whereupon:
1) A certain little girl doggie I know refuses to do #2 outside, but she *does* sit there and stare at me like she does when she gets the treat afterward.
2) No treats for no #2? Well, as soon as she sees there will be no treat exchange for finding a place and doing her business, she just runs right back to the house.
You might say I should wait and take her on a long walk to get things moving. Trouble is, we can't walk in the streets right now as there are no sidewalks in our neighborhood and there are mounds of snow 4 feet high on either side of the road. Walking in the road isn't too great, either, as they are covered in chemical and Matilda just sits down if you try to put boots on her.
She hasn't ever gone in the house or inside a building (excepting one coming out of anesthesia at a vet's office) so I guess I'm just mildly frustrated more than anything else. Only, she's fed raw so I know things are faster and she's got to be holding it.
Perhaps we'll have to entice her with a trip to "the field next to Petco".
This is the only dog I know that takes a car ride to find a place to go to the bathroom...
Argh.
How bout trying this
They have shavings like for hampsters and such, or a horse feed store will have bags of shavings for stalls, dig out a nice potty spot put down the dry shavings and see if she will use that spot to potty. Sprinkle more shavings if ypu get another snow dump. Might be worth a try. You know that snow is cold on bullie girl parts.
that's a great idea
I'll try it and see what happens, worth a shot...
Thanks!
Hopefully she doesn't try to eat it like she does with potting soil.
