Is anyone here feeding their Bully Acana Pacifica? I am thinking of changing DiMaggio to a grain free food to help with his tear stains, and I'm just wondering if anyone is using Acana Pacifica or had any experience with it?

Be careful of the protein amount in that food. You should try to stay around 25% or so. I am just switching from Blue Buffalo Basics grain free to Taste of the Wild grain free. So far so good on the TOTW. Lots of folks here feed it, it is less expensive than some of the grain free foods and it is easier to locate:-)

Thanks for the info. I am fortunate enough the have a pet supply store across the street from me that has both Acana and TOTW in stock. I know a few bulldog owners who have their bully's on Orijen which is 38% protein and they are doing very well, so I'm still on the fence when it comes to how much protein you should be feeding your bully.

But because Sophia is not a very active girl, and higher protein usually is better for very active dogs, I stick with 25% for her. I guess it just really depends on how your individual Bully does on whatever feed he or she are on that you should really go by. That's what I have done.

DIMaggio is pretty active I think or at least compared to the other bulldogs in the neighborhood. He is good for an hour of running around at the dog park where as I find most of the other bulldogs are done after 15 - 20 mins. I had him originally on Canidae Lamb and Rice 21% protein, and switched to Acana Lamb and apples 27% protein because his chin kept breaking out in pimples and his poop was never really consistantly firm. The Acana Lamb and Apples has given him very consistant firm poop and I wouldn't want to change it if it wasn't for the tear stains. I'm hoping food and filtered water will help with the tear stains because I want to avoid using any kind of chemical.

I don't think the higher protein will bother him. I watch protein levels in all my feed because I have to...including with my horses. If they aren't being ridden hard, I keep their protein level lower. They don't always process it and it can build up in their system. Not positive it is the same with dogs, but I am cautious to be on the safe side.

and did well for a few months then started having some problems again. Not sure exactly if she started getting itchy or what. So my sister put her on Natures Variety RAW patties.
Sometimes the protein and the fish is just too much. Ester can't eat salmon.
So once again it just depends on the dog..what works for one won't work for all. You have to find what works for yours.
No, I don't feed that, but I am feeding grain free:-)
