Can someone recommend a good joint and hip supplement for a healthy 2 year old bulldog? Just looking for something perventive for my Tuffster. Preferably something that is easy on the Tummy. I finally got him on a food that agrees with him. Only took about 1-1/2 years!!
Thanks!
Kim
I give mine Glucosamine,
I give mine Glucosamine, Chondriotin, MSM tablets.... as well as Salmon Oil
Hey Kim --- Good to see
you and the Tuffster. How is he doing?
I started using Liquid Health K9. So far I like it. Evidently studies show that liquid is absorbed much better then a capsule or tablet. Here's the link: http://www.liquidhealthpets.com/k9-glucosamine-for-dogs
I was going to ask you about this!
Audrey doesn't tolerate pills well, after a while she gets itchy again. It is VERY frustrating!
I noticed this liquid has vegetable glycerin in it, I don't know how Audrey will handle that but I think I am going to give it a try!

No Taste
it really has no taste so a picky eater should eat it fine. There is an ingredient that adds a little sweetner so it isn't bitter tasting. I just poor it over the food. I also don't give as much as what the bottle recommends.
It's not that she's picky
she will eat the pills right out of her bowl with her meat chunks.
She is SUPER extremely sensitive to chemicals or artificial anything. The shells of the pills over time make her face itchy. We stop the pills and she stops itching, so we know it's that.
If vegetable glycerin has ANY corn in it she will be itching, and I have no idea how she will react to the stevia.
It has been very challenging to find glucosamine she can take. All the dog products have artificial flavorings and she can't take them. The last one we tried was glycoflex, and sure enough she was dragging her face on the carpet in 2 weeks.
Eric refuses to buy chicken feet- the pig's feet are as far as he will go, and I don't think it's even possible to eat enough shrimp with shells to make much of a difference. I need to start researching that I guess....

Chinese Herbal Formula
It is called Mobility 2. You can purchase online. Comes in tablet form. Works very well!
Our holistic vet is a Traditional Chinese Medicine practitioner
Our last visit she gave us calming herbs and cooling herbs and she is the one that recommended the glycoflex, I will ask her about a glucosamine alternative!

I have used Acti-Flex 4000 on horses, they make a dog version
I tell you what, I haven't ever used a better, more fast acting joint supplement on my horses. I imagine it would be the same for dogs. My old man, an almost 30 something huge gelding, goes from creaky knees to no noise knees in a matter of days on the Actiflex 4000. I might use it on my old lady dogs, it is worth the try.
