gold bond or Diaper rash ointment to clean the red tear stains on winkle and nose rope for my bulldog?
Submitted by chris on September 11, 2011 - 5:05amand if i use the gold bond medicated powder, should i use the gold bond foot or baby powder? and would it be ok if my dog eat small amouth of gold bond or diaper rash ointment? because he pretty much licks everything that close to his nose.(even baby wipes)
Tear stains
are sometimes caused by ingredients in food, or the water, or entropian or distachia. If not, you can try to clean with light wiping of peroxide, dry and apply your Gold Bond or Desitin. The Gold Bond or Desitin will not clean the stains but protect the area from continued staining--you have to allow about a month or 6 weeks for old hairs to fall out and be replaced by new before you see good results. I personally have not used the Powder on eye stains, but did use the Desitin. There are different recipes for stain cover that you might find if you do a search on this site.
I have used Angels Eyes with good success (best price on Amazon.com) for a white puppy who had mild entropian. As his head grew, it changed the shape of eyelids at least enough to no longer tear like that, and he didn't need it anymore.
