Frayed Paw Pads

Hello,

Has anyone seen a frayed paw pad. Its not cracked, its frayed. My bulldog Daisy has 2 frayed pads on her back paws. it seems to be bothering her as she keeps licking it. Does it requrire a trip to the vet or can we heal it on our own. Any input will help.

Thanks

Personally

I use bagbalm on the paws and nose.  But I'm sure there will be lots of suggestions.  Hope she feels better!

I have used Palmer's cocoa

I have used Palmer's cocoa butter formula on Max.  I have to do it when he's sleeping or else he just licks it off.

are they like a broom?

Bear has a few like that.  I think cuz he shuffles when he walks outside and scrapes his paw, they got like that.  I take a very thin scissor and cut as much as I can and then I dremel to try and smooth the rest.  I put Aquaphor on them too but nothing really works and they get broomy again.  I think there is an actual "word" for what it is but I don't know.

Bella has some on her front

Bella has some on her front paws, I showed them to the Vet and she said not to worry about them, just cut them off when they get too long.

My boy too

Mr. Higgins` pads are often like this. Bag balm for pads and nose is very effective. I use it on myself often too.
