Fleas AFTER Parastar? Thoughts?

We have NEVER had fleas.  Maggie & Sadie have always been on Sentinel, which is heartworm pill that also prevents flea eggs.  We live near woods and since there hasn't been a lot of cold, the ticks have been pretty bad. Less than a month ago I took Sadie in for her annual shots and mentioned to the vet the issue of ticks.  She recommended Parastar to treat the ticks (it also kills adult fleas - has the same active ingredient as Frontline).  We put it on the girls about 3 weeks ago.  About 5-6 days later they started to scratch like crazy. We thought it was a reaction to the medicine.  Last night I noticed a flea.  I called the vet's office today and the vet techs assure me that any fleas we see should be dead within 24 hours.  Tonight we have already seen several.  I just don't get it.  We use this new stuff and NOW we GET fleas?

Anyone have any thoughts/ideas/suggestions?

Definitely a possibility now

They're probably everywhere now! LOL!

I put in a call to the vet's office, but the vet that sees my girls is out until Thursday. They're going to give me some capstar in the meantime til our regular vet calls me back and we figure out what to do.  This is just too strange that it all happened after we started using a secondary medicine.

Is there an infestation somewhere? outside?

I had my cat on flea meds (a collar) and my roommate at the time was a maintence man in the apartment - well a family left in the middle of the night, and it took the apartment complex a few days to realize it - the place was INFESTED - so of course he comes home, and they are on him, and then not only ON the cat, but living directly under her collar!  'Hey lets hide HERE!'   yea it ticked me off.

Anyway - some options - if you think they are in the yard, you can put down something like  'Seven Dust' it kills Fleas/Ticks and of course other bugs - but you'll have to keep your pups out of the area for a few days (or a good rain)

Fleas like to hide everywhere -  Dust the house, vaccume, move furnature, change bedding etc etc.

We use REVOLTION  which is hearworm, flea/tick that is topical (ya put on the pup between her shoulders)
