Feeding Frenzy

My 7 month old bully thinks each meal is going to be her last and eats like a pig, scarfing up her food to the point she actually choked on it a few times.(puppy heimlich at her size was scary) I have purchased a special bowl which was supposed to correct this problem, but it didn't. I have to stand over her or hand feed her and its getting rather old considering she is fed 3 x's a day. Any suggestions?

you could try spreading the food out...

on a cookie sheet, takes them longer to eat it that way.

Tried flat bottom serving

Tried flat bottom serving before I purchased the bowl. Didn't work either. Considering changing her name to "Hoover".

Well if you have to

hand feed it to her anyway, it would be a good training treat.  I don't have any other suggestions, we free feed.  Mine has never been a Hoover, I have to make sure he eats.  LOL

Maybe an elevated bowl

Nm

No elevated bowls.

This can cause bloating and even problems with their bowls (for right now has escaped me what it's called). Try a bowl with the center island. Looks sorta like the bowls that they make cakes with.

I've been using an elevated bowl for years

It's easier for my girl with HD. I've never had a problem with bloat when using an elevated bowl. Maizy had bloat as a puppy with I contributed to a new dog food plus the fact that she ate so fast and at the time I just used a regular bowl.
