and dry heaving a lot today. I don't know what could be causing it. This morning he woke up in his usual manner; happy, playful, and ready to eat. He was fed about 6:15 and drank his water. Took him outside to do his business (it was dark out and he usually goes around the corner of the house because he's shy). Then about 8:30 he started dry heaving quickly followed by throwing up all of his food. He continued to dry heave for about 10 minutes. I had to leave for school but my husband was home with him and said he was fine throughout the whole time I was gone. I got home about 10 minutes ago and he was really excited to see me (jumping, wiggeling his butt, nibbling at my fingers), but then he started dry heaving again.
He still has no food in his system but his dinner time is coming up in about 20 minutes here. I can't get a hold of the breeder to see if he's experienced this before. Is it time to take him to the emergency vet?? I'm worried that he may have ate something (my never ending fear). He's otherwise very playful and whatnot....other than the dryheaving/throwing up and a phlegmy sound, he's fine.

The thing I would worry about if he is dry heaving...
and throwing up would be bloat, but that makes them restless and feeling bad and you're saying he's acting normal, so maybe he ate something outside or maybe he has an upset stomach. I would wait a little to feed him and then do a bland meal, small amt of cooked rice with maybe a little hamburger or chicken in it. If he continues to do the dry heaves though, I would be calling the vet. Hope he feels better. You might get more responses on the general forum, it's sometimes a little slow on medical on the weekends.
ty for the advice!

Hang in there Fatboy :)
Sorry no advice, only good thoughts for the boy. I would really be worried if he didnt have any energy, but you said he is playful. Keep an eye on him (I know you always do :)
