Tank seems to be shedding an awful lot. It's geting to the point that if he moves or one of us barely touch him we end up with hands full of hair. I got one of those furminators, and we use it on the puppy often. (This usually results in a floor full of enough hair to look like a carpet.) But it doesn't seem to help reduce his shedding. Any suggestions?
Wouldn't know that he just got a brandnew $60 bed! My forever puppy Tank.
I wonder if Wild Alaskan Salmon oil
would help. The furminator is awesome. Kofi has never shed that much. I wish I could help you.
I will say that since I've started to feed Kofi raw, she sheds very little. I may furminate once a week and get very little in the blades.
Hope you find a good solution for your baby.
Yup - salmon oil
I buy a salmon oil with probiotics in it at the same store where I buy the frozen raw. They have a lot of higher-end products but I have found that the pump bottle of salmon oil with probiotics is the most convenient. I, too, feed Matilda raw and it has been about 7 weeks or so since we started and I have noticed a LOT less shedding.
In my reading I have also discovered that Norwegian Sea Kelp is reputed to be good for coats/shedding. You buy it as a powder and can make a gravy for your dog's food which they of course love. Anything warm, wet, and sloppy I guess. :)
In any case, we had enough hair to make a carpet until we switched to raw but the salmon oil did make her really shiny, thick, and soft. I started feeding foster boy the oil and the kelp in the hope we can help out a bit with his coat; I don't want to switch him to raw (much as I'd like to) because he just started eating solid food again and of course his forever home should be the one that makes the final decision as to what type of food to feed him. Right now he's eating Nutro Lamb and Rice; seems to be okay.
I use Norwegian Wild Salmon gel caps....
And Sophie doesn't shed hardly at all anymore. She used to be just like your pup, handfuls of hair came off at the slightest touch. Now she is looking great, soft, soft coat, and minimal shedding. I get mine at Walmart. You can also try Flax Seed oil or Flax oil...can't remember what it is called. I use it on my senior German Shep girl and it works very well. Also bought at Walmart in liquid gel form:-)

Amy, is that the guy that
you recently got? Did his skin clear up?
Girl. And yep!
Hi Lady! Wow, I have missed being on here and seeing you and Kofi:-)
I will post pics of Millie on the main forum. She looks awesome! I put her on the Flax and she really started getting better. Her hair quit falling out as much and it filled in nicely. Look in a while for pics.

Thanks!
Thanks everyone! I will try that as soon as I can get him settled again. (My husband and I are dual-military and are getting ready to finally head back to Texas after a long year in Korea.)
Can someone kindly explain what 'feeding raw' is?
Wouldn't know that he just got a brandnew $60 bed! My forever puppy Tank.
feeding raw is
is how many people feed their pets. We feed only raw meat, raw meaty bones, organs and ground up veggies. It is a wonderful way to keep our dogs healthy and allergy free. If you do a search, you will come up with many suggestions.
It is something that should be researched carefully before trying.
Glad you will be coming home soon. Let us hear from you.
