Hi everyone-- we came home tonight and james was going crazy rubbing his face all over the carpet. his face was red and he was acting agitated but no swelling. So we gave him his first benadryl dose and he seems to have calmed down...why is it all of my posts are about James health issues lately? Does this type of episode sound familliar to anybully?
Anyhoo, we are on cephalexin for the chin crap. Now, his ears look real red, and he itches them occasionaly. On a side note, I have noticed Tony licking james ears (ewwwww) and wonder if this is part of the problem?
We keep his ears clean with a generic ear cleaner and qtips but the skin is red and kind of looks dry. Obviously the weather has gotten cooler and dryer (a chilly 69 F-- hey, its Hawaii) but non the less an adjustment. ANY INSIGHT?
Thanks
H

I would suspect an ear infection.
Although, hope it is not. My Mr. Higgins (and my cat too) have been troubled with ear problems lately. In my bully, I always notice occasional head shaking and redness in the outer ear. His canal is closed, however seeing the vet today and hopefully good news.
Best of luck to you,
Deborah and Mr. Higgins
hes on cephalexin allready,
for someting else. no gunk, just red. i was hoping we could avoid a vet visit.

Do you happen to have any Otomax around the house?
Newman's ear was really red and itchy last week, so I cleaned it with Epi Otic on a cotton pad and then put a little otomax on it, and it's almost better. You have to get it from the vet, but I usually have a little of everything around here with three bullies in the house.
never heard of it
but its worth a try. calling now...i gotta get him back on his fish oil anyway
