Sarge was diagnosed with Dry Eye and we are using ointment 3 times a day. He also has some eyelids hairs that brush on his eye. Does Dry Eye clear or improve with medicine?
Has anyone had surgery for the eyelid? Thank you for your help!

a eye ulcer.....the meds will only keep the eye moist...i am surprised the vet did not explain this.....dont wait to long to have them removed...eye ulcers are very difficult...also the hair rubbibg on the eye is painful....
He did explain it and showed me where they are - in the corner of the eye. He said that we should use the ointment for a month. He suggested the surgery at some point, but did not make it sound immediate.

check the eye each time you put in meds....you will know if the cornea becomes scratched...becasue of the dry eye their wont be an excessive of tears but your dog will start rubbing it all the time and blinking alot....
DON'T WAIT! i didn't noticed the lashes until it created a huge dent in his eye. he almost lost this eye! We did a huge surgery that cost over $3000 to repair the ulcer. if it's still in the early stages, you can just get the hair lasered off (distichia). TRUST me don't wait! it's very painful for the dogs. After the surgery, his eye was sewed shut for 6 weeks, then when we removed the stiches, he needed 4 different eye drops (tobramycin, lubrithal, collyrium, and another ointment i forgot what it's called) 4 times a day (each, so 16 times a day). i was lucky that iw as not working at the time so i was home to care for him. After the 6 week mark, the following month we took him in once a week, then once every other week, now once a month.
It's been almost a year now, we take him in once a month-2 months to get more hair lasered off. he still needs the lube (lubrithal) to keep his eyes lubricated 4 times a day.
The surgery: they repaired the eye ball (by taking a skin graph and placing it on the eye ball, acts as a shield) they cut some of the folicals out so no hair would re-grow lasered off some other hairs that were in his eye but not poking at his eye ball
the hair will cause...
