Dozer has had slight ones that were very faint but today he was laying on the floor resting and his head starting bobbing quite fast. I tried to remember what others on the board have said to do. I gave him a few teaspoons of syrup in his dog bowl and once he started licking it up the tremors would subside. After about 2-3 minutes they finally stopped. He gave us quite the scare but he never acted like it bothered him, in fact he kept looking at us like "what's you guys's problem"...lol. Was the syrup the right thing to give him? It was maple was that ok? He hasn't had a tremor in almost 1 whole year so it kinda threw us..
Wow, they are scary!
Kofi had one, and I couldn't remember what to do. I just acted as if she was normal and got out some yogurt. She ate and got over it quickly. I was thinking that I had read here to distract them when that happens, but that's all I could remember.
If you do a search I'm sure you'll find good advice.
I'm glad he got better, it is very unsettling to watch.
Hugs to Dover from Kofi and me.
The worst part was he had them ALL day off and on..
He was having them every 1-2 hours and they would last 2-3 minutes all day saturday. I guess we're going to consider a food switch. He didnt seem bothered by them but i just felt terrible.
That would have freaked
me out too. It's just painful to watch and feel so helpless.
Let's hope a food switch will help him.
Food
Most vets say it is best to treat the owner, as head shakes are harder on owners than dogs, usually. I think it's food related. I tried 2 days of feeding TOTW and he had head shakes. Went back to NB food, but venison now, not fish. Sometimes it happens when he wakes up, [in the one's I've seen] I've just called his name in the past, and he stops. I worry about vitamins, and any food related item made in China. I also only give Prozyme as an additive in their food.
