My 5 yr frenchi had his mri done today and the neurologist said there were several regions including the cerebral cortex that shows either inflammation or infection. A spinal tap was done is it was clear and now testing for infections using the spinal tap. I've read that Cats claw can help reduce inflammation in the brain, is this true and if so which is the best and trusted source to buy and what dosage should I admister for a 26 pounds frenchie?
Thanks.

brain inflammation
Did your vet want to perscribe prednisone? My dog was diagnosed with a brain tumor and it helped him a lot! Maybe you should ask your vet if it is a treatment option.
yes prednisone, how long has your dog been on it?
but i read so many bad side effects of prednisone that can cause even with just using it for 1 week and he has to be on it for life. The vet told me that he has either brain inflammation from an autoimmune disease or some kind of brain infection which they are still testing to make sure. But they already started him on the prednisone. When you dog started on the prednisone, did you notice any side effects such as muscle atrophy and legs swollen from the water retention? How long was he diagnosed with the brain tumor and how long as he been on prednisone? Please any help would at least ease my worry.

Was your dogs tumor found on
Was your dogs tumor found on a CT scan? How old was it when they found it? Also, what were the symptoms. Thanks.
Just recent, he turned 5 on 4/20 when I took him to neurologist
Hi,
An MRI was performed and they couldn't exactly tell it's a tumor, there were just areas in his frontal lobe that is bright and his right ventrical was a bit larger than the left ventrical and there was another spot in the brain stem. they suspect it's ether idiopathic(unknown) inflammation or an autoimmune disease that the brain cells are being attacked by their own cells and is dying off. this all started when I noticed he was tilting his head to the left like he's looking at your on the side and then the next afternoon, he walk like he's drunk, and he seems to be losing his balance when he stand and he fell down 3 steps when he tried to run down the stairs. The 3rd day he was feeling a bit better, head still tilt but he can walk better, but when he turns, it's a lttle awkward. I took him to UC davis to see his regular vet and from what I described he said that I should see a neurologist so I the nero did reflex test and his reflex is a bit delayed when she put him in a standing position and fold his back paws, he should have straightened it out right away, but he didn't and then when she had him on his sides and back, his eyes were going vertical(that is what she said) so they did bloodwork, chest xrays, ultrasound to rule out system problems which was all clear except a slightly enlarged right adrenal gland by .2 cm so they said it's pretty normal but they will keep an eye on that and do another ultrasound in 2-3 months to make sure it's not growing big as that could be a sign of a tumor. So then he was prep for an MRI and spinal tap to check the cerebral fluid to test for infections and the fluid was clear and the panel was clear of infection so they gave him prednisone 15mg 2 times a day to treat for inflammation and autoimmune disease. He has been on this meds for 3 days and i know the med is affecting him, he's not like his usual self, being mischievious, he sleeps alot, and drink alot of water which is the side effects of prednisone. I have to bring him back in 2 weeks to do a followup bloodworks and see how his liver and kidneys are doing. He is only 5 as of 4/20 and they say that with these breed it is very common for french bulldogs as well as bulldogs to have this at this age. Also with this kind of condition, it's hard to tell unless they do a biopsy which is risky considering the location and only an autopsy would tell which kind of encephalitis disease(GME, NLE, NME).
I'm doing what I can to make sure he gets the best treatment and we just have to live one day at a time.
Dee-
Thanks for all that
Thanks for all that information. I'm sure you are doing the best you can. You never realize how much you could love a dog until you get a bulldog, they become family fast!
