Diatomaceous earth

is my new best friend!

It kills fleas!

With NO poisonous neurotoxins!

I was freaking out, both dogs had fleas. I found flea dirt on my BED from Audrey! My old lady had visible fleas on her.

I rubbed them both down with DE, washed their sleeping areas, bedding, and sprinkled DE all around it. No more fleas. I am SO IMPRESSED! I flea combed both dogs today, just 2 days after de'ing everything. No flea dirt at all on either of them, and only one dead flea on the old gal.

I can not even begin to describe how happy I am that an alternative to poison actually worked!

thanks again Judy! Heartworm question.....

You have been such a tremendous help! I do apreciate it.

I am STILL scared of heartworms though, and last month I will admit I caved and gave them both that pill. I feel bad about it now, and am determined to find an alternative I can feel is safe AND effective. I don't have a holistic vet nearby and am really not comfortable trying to figure out black walnut on my own. I did find a product called Heartworm Free that has gotten good reviews. Have you heard of it? I know just because something is "natural" doesn't mean it's safe and effective, but the ingredients seem prettty simple and when I asked on the holistic bulldog site at least one person said they used it successfully.

here it is:

i read the info....

i am very intrested in this...the problem i have is that most of te info was for treating a dog with heartworm all ready...loved the ingredients they used...it seems to be a product to use every day...so i am going to spend a couple of days looking at this further....as i said i am intrested....

here is info on using it as a preventative

http://wolfcreekranch1.tripod.com/heartworm_preventative.html

As a preventative you do not need to use it daily.

Since you live in the northern, (MA, right?) part of the USA you would only need to use it twice a day for seven days a month, the first week of every month for 7 full days.

In areas where heartworm is very prevalent, (Souteastern USA), you would use it twice a day for 14 days a month. 1st week of the month for a full 7 days and 4th week for a full 7 days.

I did order some, it has been very hot here for a few months already!
