Diaherra

Our 5 year old Olde English Bulldog has had the squirts/diaherra for 48 hours now.  He is trying to go use the bathroom, but only small amounts of liquid come out.  We called the vet today and they didn't seem very concerned.  They just told us to feed him rice and boiled chicken.  We have fed this to him 2 times today, but we haven't seen much improvement.  He is drinking water and has eaten the chicken/rice without any hesitation.  Any other suggestions??

Sounds Right

Everything you are doing sounds right.  Our bully had diarreha for like a month when she was about 3 months old and we just had to feed her rice and boiled chicken until her stool was normal.  The only time our vet was concerned when she had diarreha was when she was throwing up also.  So keep up what you are doing and keep in contact with your vet.  Good luck it is rough when our pups are not feeling well!

The bland diet will help and...

you can put a spoonful of canned pumpkin on his food, that helps firm them up.  We sometimes use Immodium if it's really bad.  There is a product you can buy online called DiaBac that works wonders, but by the time you get it, he will be back to normal.  I always keep it on hand.  Just make sure he's drinking so he doesn't get dehydrated.

I would skip at least one meal

And give his stomach time to heal. The bland diet is a good idea but just give small amounts of food at first. I have also given immodium.
