Anyone have this done for their bully? If so, what's the recovery process like? Vet says she will have to wear e-collar for 5 days afterwards. So sounds like a lot of fun, my drama queen will not like that part one bit. But she is also the type to frantically paw and rub at her face if we even put the slightest bit of Vaseline in a wrinkle, so an e-collar may be a neccessity. It's just in one eye, so that's good (and good for my pocket book too.)
Meet Cupcake (born May 15, 2011) and Biscuit (born December 2, 2011)
One of our boys had that done a few years ago...
they didn't use an ecollar on him, but wrapped his back paws in ace bandages so he couldn't scratch. I think they make smaller collars than the huge cones, so maybe that will be less scary if they make her wear one. His recovery was uneventful, they did entropian and distichia on both eyes, he had a lot of stitches, but all went well. Good luck to your girl.
i'm sure she'll be fine esp
i'm sure she'll be fine esp when she realizes how spoiled she'll be,
k that pic of both of them talk about severe case of cuteness!!!
smoochies the scrunchy faces
Cones are a pain
but you definitely need to keep it on her because a suture can be pulled with one rub. I would make sure the sutures are out before removing it and 5 days does not seem long enough, just depends on her healing. If your vet hasn't done alot of entropian surgeries then I would consider finding a specialist. They can really botch the job if they take too much skin. If you have the puppy, you will probably want to keep them separate while she heals.
Molly had a flexible e-collar
Molly had a flexible e-collar to keep her from getting at ivs that were in her legs. It seemed like a soft plastic. It was still long and wide enough to do the job but she could also lay her head down flat. It was bright blue and made her look like a flower! I hope cupcake's surgery went well!
