We recently switched our bully's food to Natural Balance Fish and Sweet Potato LTD b/c of some skin issues. He loves the new food and responded well to it as far as his skin is concerned....it looks great. However, something we have noticed now is that he sneezes a lot and reverse sneezes way more than usual. It almost seems like he has a cold. The runny nose and sneezes are causing him to kind of do a chocking cough as well...like what you would get from post nasal drip. My question is, could this be a reaction from the food or just a coincidene and he has a possible cold? Not sure if I should switch him again and if so, to what?
Thoughs and advice appreciated! Thanks in advance!
My thoughts
Is there any mucous, and if so, is it colored? That would indicate some type of infection. If there is a cold brewing, you may want to check a temp.
It sounds more like irritants. In the winter, the dog is usually in dry heat. We often see lots more dry flaky skin on dogs because of this. A few things you could try. Maybe an air filter? A humidifier may also help with the air, or - put a few pots of water aorund to let it evaporate into the air naturally (you may be surprised at how quickly this happens). :)
