Cleaning wrinkles

OK, I know this many have asked, but I have to ask again: how do you guys clean your bullies' wrinkles? My Tucker's face, where his tear stains would be, is always moist. Since feeling him grain free food and changing his feeding bowl to stainless steel, his tear stains have gotten alot better (hardly there). However, that area is still always moist (and sometimes not pleasant-smelling, since its in a wrinkle). How do you guys keep this area dry?

I've heard putting Gold Bond powder or using Desitin. Any specific type of Gold Bond powder (medicated? extra strength? cornstarch plus baby powder?)

as a new bully mommy

I'm kinda wondering the same thing with Sebastian. I've been cleaning his wrinkles with vagisil wipes and then after drying them trying to put gold bond powder in them. It's difficult to do with a wiggley butt 9 week old, tho!

Hi there

I know its confusing with all the different advice you are reading.  The vagisil wipes should only be used on areas that smell like fritos or yeast and are very red.  Vagisil is to treat yeasties.  =)  And if there is a yeast issue happening you need to get to what is causing it to really fix it.  Food, allergies etc.,

People use desitin on really really raw sore wrinkles.

As for daily face cleaning most people just use a warm face cloth or unscented baby wipe to clean the face wrinkles.  My guy doesn't have many so I'm not much help.  I wipe his face after he eats and drinks with an old hand towel that I keep hanging over his dish for easy access.

Keeping those areas dry is really important...

thank you

I was just using regular baby wipes on him the first couple of days but then read about the vagisil wipes. I'll go back to baby wipes, he's not red or anything. Any advice on an easy way to apply the powder tho? His face is little and the wrinkles are not easy to get to and he's such a little wiggle butt when I have him on the counter in the morning trying to clean his face. I've been putting some on my finger and then wiping it into his wrinkle so that it doesn't get into his eyes.

I think I just need

I think I just need maintenance tips..Tucker's wrinkles aren't red or sore, but sometimes are a little smelly cuz they've been moist. Maybe I'll do the baby wipes and gold bond powder? although I'd like to know if there is a specific type of gold bond to use that works best...?

I use multi-purpose contact solution

For day-to-day cleaning.  It contains boric acid which helps dry out the area.  I put it on a cotton round & then wipe.  After I take a dry cotton round & pat dry.  Seems to work for my bullies.

Oh, thanks! I would never

Oh, thanks! I would never have thought of contact solution, but it is something i have readily available, so I may give it a shot. Great looking bullies! I always admire people with white bullies...my Tucker only has half of a white face and I'm doing everything I can to make sure it's as white as possible...!

I agree!

I also would never have thought of the contact solution either and we have that in our house always. Sebastian has a mostly all white face too except for his shiner eye!!!!

Powder suggestion

I've done this for Gus.  I take a regular Q-Tip, roll it through the powder and then use it in the crease.  I know Mr. Sebastian's wrinkles are very tiny, so you might have to use just the tip of the Q-Tip and dab the powder into his wrinkles.  If his wrinkles aren't damp, my suggestion would be to do this every other day so you don't get any build-up of powder in there.

I love your baby.  I showed my friend his picture and she said he looks like he's wearing a little coat!

Qtip

against the growth of the fur so it really gets in there.

After a while you get into the habit of spotting wet wrinkles and dabing each side with it's own clean paper towel.

Agree

If it isn't yeasty or infected you don't need to be messing with it.  You have to let the body do what it is meant to do naturally.  You can cause problems by over washing. Especially when you are using a damp wipe on an area that already has a mositure problem.

I don't have any yeast problems with my 3...but in the past I've used the vagisil wipes as well as Malaseb.  Cleo has a huge nose rope that grew fresh batchs of bread on a daily basis. Since making some food changes that has really cleared up. My sister only has to clean her rope every couple of days now. We still call her stinky face though :)

Chin wiping ...Yes, Yes, Yes.  It will really help on puppies to keep the juvenile acne to a minimum. I have a hand towel in the kitchen I use on the doggies after they drink, especially Kohl and Ester.  They get water everywhere.

First thing

is to rule out any medical reason for his watery eyes.

I personally don't do anything on a daily basis and Ester is always wet from excessive tear production. I'll spray a little Genticin on a square makeup pad and wipe....then dry with a soft cloth.  Making sure not to get in the eye.  You can wash too much IMO. I hate Desitin because they rub and it leaves white everywhere.  Gold bond powder in areas that continually get damp is going to be goopy. What you want is an antifungel or anti yeast wipe maybe once a week...and you can also just use a little soap and water, then wipe with a dry cloth.

Thanks for all your

Thanks for all your suggestions! I have some Malaseb wipes that I have been using for his wrinkles, so I'm glad that I'm not the only one that uses them!
