Chin Acne...help!

I have a 15 month old bulldog, last summer she had a bad case of dermatitis, but we got that under control. Now it has been an ongoing problem with chin acne. Automatically i freaked out and took her to the vet only for them to give me medication which she didnt react to well. The acne is back and im reluclutant about going back to the vet. I wipe her face 2-3 times a day with unsented baby wipes, but im wondering if there is anything else i can do. I read about witchhazel mixed with listerine gold and use a spray bottle and mist it on her face but im not so sure??? Hydrogen Peroxide????

I've heard Stidex medicated pads work well...

make sure the water and food bowls are stainless steel and keep them clean.

Cleaning

Water and food bowls are both stainless steel and i wash them everyday. Im wondering if i should be cleaning her chin differently?

Face everywhere

Bailey is the exact same way, she has her face everywhere and it acts like a mop. It isnt too severe but sometimes it will bleed.

Licking the Air

Im not sure if this is related or not. I doubt she is trying to lick the acne. Everytime she eats. For approximately 1 hour she licks the air like crazy. This has been going on for about a month now and im relulctant on taking her to the vets yet. I went out a bought her a slow feeder bowl thinking she was eating too fast. and now im in the process of switching foods. we were on science diet but i was told it was a bad food so were slowly switching to First Mate Fish and Potatoes with 23%protein. Im wondering if this licking is a food problem or what??? I was told by a breader to check her tail pocket, but she barely has a pocket and i always wipe and dry it, so i doubt that is the problem, espcially because she only does it immediately after eatting. I have never seen this before, has anyone experienced this problem???

When she starts doing the licking...

try giving her something sugary like a spoonful of karo syrup or ice cream and see if that stops it.

Food Squished on Nose

Does she get food squished on her nose?  Sometimes MacKenzie licks after he eats and I think it has to do with whatever tastes yummy on his nose.  It can also be a habit she has formed if she does it for so long and all the time.

Is she ichy at all?

Baby Wipes

Maybe she is having a reaction to the baby wipes.  I would wipe her with a damp soft cloth and dry after her meals and see if that helps.  I tired Stridex Pads once (threw them away), after the first swip Cleo ran and hid and I never tried them again.  :)  They sting.  Sometimes less is more.

Honestly I've had great luck with Vetricyn on a cosmetic pad for almost anything that needs a simple antibiotic wipe. There is another spray I use that has Tea Tree Oil in it that is awesome.  I don't remember the name of it off the top of my head.

Damp Cloth

Thanks for all the information! I never thought of the baby wipes actually being a problem but now im going to try just a damp cloth and dry it after. that could very well be the problem. Even after changing her food and checking her pocket under her tail shes still doing it.
