Only used once, but it went well!

When I first got Winston from rescue this was one of many Rx's I had to give him daily the first 2 weeks. He did really well.

Cephalexin....

is commonly used for skin issues.  I give some yogurt in between doses.

THANKS GUYS!

The Vet called it in without re-checkng James (he saw him when it first flared up) so I was wary.  But its a good call and no Vet check 30 miles away on a Sat?? Bonus!  Thanks, and good tip about the yogurt- James will love that. He is dairy fiend.

Give with food or greek yogurt as it can cause

an upset stomach.  The website on pubmed says milk but I've never given a dog milk straight.  Greek yogurt is probably best.  Just don't mix the antibiotics into the yogurt; the antibiotics will get absorbed quickly vs. in it's timed manner.

your dog is so cute!

What an adorable puppy!

After dealing with skin issues ourselves, I found out some interesting stuff about it.  So the grossness on the bulldogs...aka ear crap, skin crap, tail infection crap is quite stinky and annoying.  Not always, but usually this is an overabundance of yeast growth.  Yeast bugs thrive on ingesting sugar and will reproduce very quickly causing more stink and more infections for your little bully.  What we did, was stop feeding food that breaks down into sugars.  We stopped feeding dry kibble with that icky grain content and we have had NO MORE INFECTIONS!  Infection free for 2 years now.  No more antibiotics, no more steroids.  It really was such a great solution for us.  I hope this helps.  If you care to read our story I wrote about it so that other bully owners could possibly find great solutions like we did.  www.bulldogintheraw.com
