I got mine from their ebay store and still have the same box 2 years later. You really only use a SMALL amount of it.
Since you mentioned Comfortis I take it you want to use DE for fleas?
DE is not what I would call a preventative for fleas. It kills the fleas that are present. I only used it 2 times, and Audrey is 3 years old, for fleas. Those 2 times were because I found several fleas on her, and she was itching.
I sprinkled it on her, rubbed it in good, then gave her a bath a few days later. I used a Delsym cough syrup measuring cup, it is about 2 tablesppons, and I only used about half. A little goes a L O N G way when you are applying DE to your dog. I had one dog that got very dry irritated skin from it.
I more heavily sprinkled her crate, all around her crate, the chair she spends most of her time in, and all around the baseboards of the bedroom she sleeps in most. I would not recommend broadcasting it in carpet, but some people do. It clogs up a vacuum.
However, It is NOT! in any way like sprinkling baking soda on your carpet. It clings to the carpet, once it's settled it's on there. So you don't need to worry about clouds of white when you walk into the room, or poofs of it when you sit in the chair, it doesn't work that way. It just clogs up the vacuum.
For a flea deterrent, I use garlic. Freshly crushed to also get the benefit of alicin. I also use essential oils. And I flea comb her DAILY. This year I orderderd some flea deterrant from Wolf Creek to add to her food, but haven't started it yet because the weather has fluctuated so much. I need to start it soon. It is not an instant thing, and it's best to get it in their system before the fleas come out in force.
I live in the hot humid southeastern US. We are in the red zone on the heartworm map and the climate is bug heaven. I use DE in her food to keep her digestive system parasite free so her immune system can work optimally during heart worm season. I do not use chemical heart worm prevention, I use HeartWorm Free. I also get it form Wolf Creek Ranch.
I buy it from Wolf Creek Ranch

Cathy and Audrey
Cathy, that's great information!
Thanks so much. I will check out the Heartworm Free. Kofi gets Tri-Heart Plus, but I hate giving her meds such as these.
