Canine Parkinsons

HI everyone, thank you for taking the time to read this.

I have a 7 year old female English bulldog. She is such a wonderful lady, and as tough as nails, but shes developed Canine Parkinsons, unfortunately. Yesterday started her worst "episode", shes still having some mild tremors as I type this, but she does seem to be doing better.

I have to travel with her tonight, it is a 5 hour car ride, which she is very used to, but Im worried about her condition.

Has anyone ever experienced something like this? Or have any helpful tips for a worried dog-mother?

Here are a few pictures of her

Did your vet diagnose this?

I am not sure I have ever heard of Canine Parkinsons. I can't tell you what to do or think, but will wish you the very best and be praying for your girl.

Is it a head tremor?

Since my bully recently started having ideopathic head tremors in all my research and speaking with vets and neurosurgeons they have said that the head tremors have some resemblance to parkinsons.  How often are the episodes and how long to they last?  I posted something in the forum on 10/28 on head tremors and there is an excellent article on it on this website.

Look on YouTube to find similar dogs tremors and see if it's the same, it really helped me.  It's typically a left to right movement and sometimes up and down but the dog is always alert and shows no signs of any other distress.  With a treat, I am able to re-focus my dog and the tremors stop right away.  Email me and I can give you some information.

This was my suspicion as well.

Head tremors could easily resemble Parkinsons. If it happens again, get a tablespoon of peanut butter, or karo syrup, ice cream, honey, anything with sugar. Give it immediately to your dog. I bet the tremors will stop. If they do, you will want to look into a food change. Maybe you just changed foods? Go with something grain free, like Taste of the Wild or Natural Balance. Lower protein is better, approximately 25% is good.

Let us know...
