Can antibiotics make a dog not want to eat?

The vet. put Fatboy on Cephalexin and ear washing meds for a bad ear infection he got.  So far he's almost finished up the bottle but these past couple of days he hasn't been eating.  Two days ago he only ate once (at dinnertime).  Then yesterday he only had a couple of bites of his breakfast and hasn't ate anything since.  I'm trying to get him to eat but he just doesn't want it.  He's usually a pooping machine but these past few days it isn't very much.  I thought it's because he's not eating. Is it time to take him back to the vet?

it could be the cephalexin,

but check with your vet because some of the antibiotics increase hungr and thirst.  it could also be that he doesnt feel well because of the infection and eating not a priority.  have you tried handfeeding him?

A lot of antibiotics can...

upset their stomachs.  That's probably why he's not eating.  As long as he's staying hydrated, he'll be fine.

give antibotics 30 min after a meal....

the stomach should be full before giving an antibotic....so i would say yes its upsetting his tummy....since the antibotic your using is a low does i would skip one day then start again making sure his tummy is full.....

antibiotics

My boy stopped eating after taking cephalexin for 12 days. I stopped the meds. Make sure you are givng a probiotic or plain yogurt once a day to keep the good bacteria going in his gut.

Cephalexin

When my dog was on Cephalexin, vet suggested Pepcid which I gave with meal and gave the antibiotic about half hour later.  (I get Walmart Equate Acid Reducer, which is same ingredient as Pepcid, Famatodine, and costs only $4 for bottle of 60--but be careful there's another one with different ingredient that costs more).  Some antibiotics have warning about specific time before/after dosing for giving antacid,   I too always give yogurt in between.
