Sophie is about 3 and has had multiple boughts with butt scooting lately. Her vet says it an infection "down there" and puts her on antibiotics for 10 days. While she is on them it does go away, but, literally the day she comes off them she starts scooting again. I see no redness or bumps or discharg. Her tail pocket is clean, her anal glands empty.
Anyone have any ideas whats going on with her. This has been going on since the spring.
Thanks in advance for your knowledge, experience and help.

Has she been tested for parasites?
Does she have a tight tail?
She has not been tested for
She has not been tested for parasites. And yes, she has a tight tail, but, I clean it and the vet checked the last time we had her in.
I've made another appointment for her with the vet for Friday. I will then vent my frustrations with them for just throwing antibiotics at this. We need them to get to the bottom of this issue.
Take a fresh stool sample when you go.
Have them do a fecal float to see if parasites are present. Otherwise, I would do a really good tail cleaning with a spray nozzle if you have one. Get as deep in as you can with a soapy finger and clean, clean, clean that pocket. Then dry it with paper towels (they absorb so much better than a regular towel). After you have it as dry as you can get it, dab some Desitin diaper ointment in the pocket. It will dry up moisture as well as any infection or anything else going on there. You can also use Gold Bond powder and dust the pocket with a makeup duster:-)
Good luck!

Have you checked for fleas?
Oh good grief. That is the other thing to check for!!!
Thank you SO much for posting this! I always say to check for fleas, somehow I forgot this time though! Sophie always scootches when she has a bibbit!

Bibbits will do it EVERY time for Audrey!
now I know if she acts like the Hounds of Hell are on her hiney she has a flea.
Just one flea is all it takes, and she won't walk. She'll take a step, plop down, turn around and look at her butt like she is in disbelief that it's hers. Since I don't use chemicals on her anymore I check her everyday and since she was rubbed with DE really good there has been no more flea dirt on her or on my bed, but every once in a while a new flea will hop on her and OMG the drama!
