Bumpy Looking Hair

My 3 year old English Bullie is having an allergic reaction to something.....She had a bath 3 days ago and has now broke out with a bumpy rash on her bellie and her hair/fur looks bumpy. Could this have come from the dog shampoo or could it be something other?

Sounds like hives

which would come on from an allergic reaction.  The bumps make the hair stand up.  You can give the pup plain benadryl.  1 mg per lb of body weight.  If dog is close to 25 lbs give one pill if closer to 50 lbs give 2.  If it doesn't go away in a day or so, I would have the vet check it out.

Maddie is close to 60lbs (she she is a little tank:)....I had given her 1 tablet a couple of times now.

Would hives come from shampoo or could it have been something unrelated?

Thanks so much for your help.

It could come from the shampoo

especially if that is the only thing that you have done differently.  Is this the first time you have used that shampoo?  Maybe she didn't get rinsed well.  I would give a Benadryl 1 tablet 2xdaily (the original pink tablets) and if it doesn't go away in 48 hours take her to the vet.  Is she ichy?  I would also put her back in the tub and rinse her well.  Do you have a hand held shower sprayer?

Unfortunately, hives can come from pretty much anything...

Have you used any new products?  I have found Tide detergent is a big issue, also carpet shampoos, fertilizers, bug sprays, etc.  It's hard to pin down sometimes because something that you've been using for a while can suddenly cause an allergic reaction.  Also medications, especially antibiotics.  The benedryl should help with itching.
