It could be an abcess...

if it feels like a lump.  If it's just open and oozing, it could be a hot spot.  I would just dab it with peroxide or Listerine and have it looked at in the morning.  Hope it heals quickly, whatever it is.

Another thought...

could be a bug bite.  Is he still itching it?  Maybe a benedryl would help if he is.

Thanks

Thanks i did not see him get bit by anything i am always with him when he is outside

he is still scratching it but not a lot. The vet cant see him until thursday at 9:30 am

i will clean it and keep an eye on him. he is acting fine and eating good. will update after he

goes to the vet.

I hope he's okay..

please let me know what the vet says.  One of the things I love about my vet is he will always squeeze me in, he knows how bulldog problems can escalate.

vets visit

we see someone but not our vet they said it was a hot spot that was infected

he also has an ear infection. they gave us ketoconazole tablets, genone topical and

otomax/genizol drops for his ears. plus a shot of veta-log. so 276.00 dollars later he should be ok.

then they gave me an estimate for the following items

soft palate resection w/lazer     bulldog tail amputation  skin fold removal  for 1,460.00

my vet never mentioned bumper needing any of this but the lady we seen last nite did.

the anesthsia they mentioned is sevofluorane  is that safe for him.

tail amputations

Is never to be taken lightly.  My Spike was set to have his tail amputated, he was having continued problems with his tail.  I started to wipe his every time he had a bowel movement with baby wipes.  I made it like a game, which he now loves.  I tell him let's get the butt wiped and he gets all wiggly and happy.  It must feel good to be wiped.  His tail is set high so there was only moisture there, but since I ahve been doing that, he hasn't had any more issues with anal glands, or tail infections.  Now, I do have another dog Jackson, that doesn't like it al all since he is always sore under his tail, he does tolerate it better now, but still doesn't want it done.  I also use a produt called ENDIT, which is made here in North Caorlina.  Look it up on their website, www.endit.co.  It's agreat product.  My vet who owns bulldogs, swears by it for tail problems.

Yes, sevoflurane and isoflurane are safe for bulldogs.

Glad to hear it's not too awful...

I would see your usual vet before making any decisions.  Getting rid of folds is not necessary and probably not the tail either, I've had many bulldogs with inverted tails and just kept them clean and everything was fine.  It did look like a hot spot in the picture, they are common and can spread pretty quickly.  I think the cure posted on here is brown listerine and then gold bond powder.  Also, when you give him a bath, be sure to rinse him really good.  Sometimes vets just see dollar signs when they see a bulldog, that's why we all recommend seeing a vet that has a lot of them in the practice.

Thanks

thanks everyone i dont plan on any surgery at this time but i will follow up

with my vet he owns bulldogs. I am switching his food slowly and going to stop

sharing my popcorn with him . I love my lil guy and want to keep him healthy and

comfortable.
