I was just giving Beatrix belly rubs, and noticed a lump on her belly, where the incision was from her spaying two months ago. It's a bit red around the edges, and sort of...shiny in texture. And hard.
Any ideas what this might be? Is it just a lump of scar tissue that's raised up that I never noticed before? Or something I should worry about?
maybe
After surgery scar tissue builds up so that is what that lump could be. However, it probably should not be red. As redness, tenderness, heat, and discharge are all signs of infection. If it were my pups I would put him in a bathtub with epsom salt (only fill the tub half way) for 5-10 mintues for a couple nights. See if the salts draw anything out. And I might put antibiotic ointment on the bump as well. Hope this helps :)

She had an interdigital cyst
She had an interdigital cyst a while ago, and we treated it basically the same way -- epsom salt soaks and -- in that instance -- hemerroid cream. I might try this...
I just felt the bump while
I just felt the bump while she was calm and standing up -- as opposed to wiggling around from happy belly scritches. It's not hot, and doesn't seem to be bothering her. Maybe I'm over-reacting?
bump on incisision
Bella had this and what had happened was a stich was still there ( only a part of it) and her body was fighting to get rid of it. The vet got it out and everything was fine.
