So today i brought him in to vet and she said he had a allergic reaction to something and must of had hives??? and that is why he has all the hair loss. I have a script for a pill to help with itchyness and he had a shot of something. I have some medicated soap to wash him in 2 times a week. And i have to leave it on him 10-15 minutes before rinsing. sighs hard to do. If he doesnt change then shell prescribe a antibiotic and possible skin scraping.
I feel like Im not any further ahead than I was before I got there. just a lighter wallet.
Oh Geeze
I'm sorry but did you notice he had hives? Why didn't she just do a skin scrap. Also hives rarely cause an odor. This is the reason I find some vets irritating. If they would quit pill pushing and find the cause and treat, then you would be money ahead.
Sorry but I think your vet is wrong and he has staph. LOL!
I agree with Deb....
I've had a lot of experience with hives and allergies. Karma has had hives a number of times and has never lost his hair in those areas. However, my Frenchie has very bad allergies and gets those raised scabby areas and the hair does fall out.....that's staph. A round of Cephalexin clears it up...at least in his case.
Agree :)

skin/hives
seems like all of us are goind through this. It has to be something environmental becuase there are just too many in idfferent areas of the country. Do't do the skin scraping, it will show nothing. My Bella had welts/hives all over her body that then became crusty sores, she had a ton of them, put her on a course of prednisone and that "broke" the cycle, she did very well for about a month or two then they came back. She also was on an antiobiotic, simplicef. I have also taken her off all foods that you can buy at the pet store, and the vet gave me an Hypoalgerneic food that I have to get from them, it's been about four months, and I will say they all look better. (I have 5 bullies) all of them are going throught this. Do the baths, they help you can slo try zyretec. 10 mg tablet every 12 hours to pevent the allgereis. Dermacool spray or sulfodene spray can be put on the itchy areas as needed. Hope this helps
